# Adding paint or pencil to an image

1. Make sure the layer you want to edit is selected in the Layers panel.
2. Set a Foreground color. This will be the paint color.
3. Select the Brush or Pencil tool.&#x20;
4. Set the brush size and hardness in the options bar.
5. Click and drag to add paint to your image.
