# Adding an image to your work area

1. Go to File and select Place Embedded.
2. Navigate to and select the image you would like to bring into your project.
3. Click Place. The image will appear in your work area.
4. On your keyboard, press Return (or Enter) to execute the Place. (Photoshop will not let you do most actions until you have done this.)
