# Creating a Premiere project

1. If you haven't already done so, [connect your project folder SD card](/adobe-premiere-basics-mac-os-edition/setting-up-your-project/connecting-your-project-folder-sd-card.md) and [create a project folder](/adobe-premiere-basics-mac-os-edition/setting-up-your-project/creating-a-project-folder.md).
2. In Premiere, click **File** on the menu bar. Choose **New** and select **Project**.
3. Click in the **Project location** drop-down field. Select **Choose Location**. [Navigate to and select your project folder](https://jjloomis.gitbook.io/file-and-folder-management-mac-os-edition/navigating-folder-tree). Click **Choose**. 
4. In the **Project name** field, give your project a name. Follow [JAMS file and folder naming conventions](https://jjloomis.gitbook.io/file-and-folder-management/file-and-folder-naming-conventions).
5. When finished, click **Create** (lower-right.)
