# Adding In and Out points to a clip

1. In the Project panel, double-click a clip to open it in the Source monitor.
2. In the Source monitor, preview your clip to determine how much of it you would like to add to your sequence.
3. To add an In point to your clip, position the playhead where you would like the In point to appear. Press **I** (on keyboard) to create the In point.
4. To add an Out point to your clip, position the playhead where you would like the Out point to appear. Press **O** (on keyboard) to create the Out point.
