# Adjusting brightness and contrast

1. Select a layer to edit or create a selected area.
2. Go to Image on the menu bar. Choose Adjustments and select Brightness/Contrast from the fly-out menu.
3. In the Brightness/Contrast control box, make sure Preview is selected. Adjust the brightness and contrast as you see fit.&#x20;
