Downloading Free Music to Your Project Folder

Some websites offer free MP3 music file downloads. If you download an MP3, it needs to live in your project folder (not the Downloads folder of a lab computer.) If the MP3 does not live in your project folder, that portion portion of your project will not work.

Note: When using free music, always adhere to the licensing agreement stipulated by the artist and/ or website. Most music is available under one of the .

Note: In order to download free music MP3 files from YouTube, you will need a YouTube/ Google account. See for information on creating an account.

  1. Click this link: to go to the YouTube free music library. Enter your Google username and password to login.

  2. Browse the music library and select a track that fits your project.

  3. Control-click the download icon (arrow) for the track. In the fly-out menu, select Save Link As (or Download Linked File As or Save Target As, depending on your browser)

  4. In the Save As box, your project folder.

  5. Click Save. The MP3 will download to your project folder.

Free Music Archive

Free Music Archive offers free music for videos.

  1. Click this link: to go to the Free Music Archive Music for Video page.

  2. Browse the music library and select a track that fits your project.

  3. Control-click the download icon (arrow) for the track. In the fly-out menu, select Save Link As (or Download Linked File As or Save Target As, depending on your browser)

  4. In the Save As box, your project folder.

  5. Click Save. The MP3 will download to your project folder.
