# Verifying your YouTube account

You won't be able to upload and use your own thumbnail images with your YouTube videos until you verify your account.

1. Go to [youtube.com/verify](https://www.youtube.com/verify).
2. Enter your Google Account credentials to sign in.
3. On the Authentication verification page, select your country. Select Text me the verification code.
4. Enter your phone number. Click **Submit**.The verification code will be sent to your phone.
5. Enter the verification code. Click **Submit**.
