# Adding In and Out points to a clip

1. In the **Project** panel, double-click a clip to open it in the **Source** monitor.
2. In the **Source** monitor, preview your clip to determine how much of it you would like to add to your sequence.
3. To add an **In point** to your clip, position the **playhead** where you would like the In point to appear. Press **I** (on keyboard) to create the **In point**.
4. To add an **Out point** to your clip, position the playhead where you would like the **Out point** to appear. Press **O** (on keyboard) to create the **Out point**.
