# Changing the Fill Color of a Shape

1. Click the [Selection tool](https://jjloomis.gitbook.io/adobe-indesign-basics-windows-edition/working-with-tools/drawing-and-type-tools) in the Toolbar.
2. Click within the shape. Selection handles will appear around the outside of the shape.
3. In the Control bar, click the Fill drop-down menu. Select a fill color.
