# Creating a Text Box

1. Select the [Type tool](/adobe-indesign-basics-mac-os-edition/working-with-tools/drawing-and-type-tools.md) in the Toolbar.
2. Click and drag a box within your document.
3. A cursor will appear in the upper left of your text box. Type to add text.
