# Locking or Unlocking a Layer

## Locking a layer

1. Click the Layers tab (on right) to expand the Layers panel.&#x20;
2. In the Layers panel, select the layer you want to lock.
3. Click in the empty square to the left of the layer name. A **lock icon** will appear in the space.&#x20;

## Unlocking a layer

1. Click the Layers tab (on right) to expand the Layers panel.
2. In the Layers panel, click the **lock icon** to the left of the layer name. The lock icon will disappear.&#x20;
