# Locking or Unlocking a Layer

## Locking a layer

1. Click the Layers tab (on right) to expand the Layers panel. 
2. In the Layers panel, select the layer you want to lock.
3. Click in the empty square to the left of the layer name. A **lock icon** will appear in the space. 

## Unlocking a layer

1. Click the Layers tab (on right) to expand the Layers panel.
2. In the Layers panel, click the **lock icon** to the left of the layer name. The lock icon will disappear.
